Blue Bead AIdama

“Blue Bead” is an exclusive original product from “Kobe Juzu-ten,” a century-old shop in Kyoto. Its core concept combines the traditional Japanese color ‘indigo’ with the high-quality craftsmanship of “Kyoto prayer beads.”
Designed specifically for those who appreciate “traditional Japanese aesthetics” and “high-quality craftsmanship,” it is not merely a religious item or accessory, but a work of art that blends contemporary design, traditional dyeing techniques, and historical culture.

These unique prayer beads are crafted from natural mountain cherry wood that has endured the long winter and is dyed with indigo.
The color of the prayer beads is known as “Kachiro” (deep blue), a hue that can only be achieved through traditional indigo dyeing techniques, which utilize natural dyes derived from fermented Japanese indigo.
The longer the prayer beads are used, the richer their luster becomes, allowing you to appreciate the natural texture of the indigo.

*As this is a naturally indigo-dyed product, please avoid contact with water, as the color may fade.*

Product Description

1. Core Features & Craftsmanship
Authentic Sho-Aizome (Natural Fermented Indigo Dyeing): In pursuit of the purest hue, this collection utilizes traditional techniques in collaboration with "AWAJI Ai LAND project," the technical consultants for indigo dyeing in the NHK Taiga drama Seiten wo Tsuke (Brighten the Blue Sky).
All-Natural Materials: We strictly avoid chemical dyes, using only fermented vats made from natural plants (Polygonum tinctorium). Each piece is hand-dyed by highly skilled artisans.
Kachiiro (Victory Blue): This extremely deep, near-black indigo is known as "Kachiiro." A unique shade achieved through authentic natural indigo dyeing, it has been revered since ancient times by samurai as an auspicious color symbolizing victory.

2. Selected Components
Mountain Cherry Wood Beads (Yamazakura): The beads are crafted from natural Mountain Cherry wood, tempered by harsh winters, and then indigo-dyed. Over time, the beads develop a deep, rich patina, evolving in both color and texture through years of use.
Pure Silk Tassels (Shoken-fusa): The silk threads are produced by Kyoto’s renowned "Showen Kumihimo" and dyed in the same deep indigo. Each tassel is meticulously hand-woven by master craftsmen.
Original Paulownia Box: Each item comes in a custom-designed Paulownia wood box, blending traditional premium material with a modern, sophisticated aesthetic.

3. Design & Collaboration
Logo Design: The "Blue Bead" logo was created by the world-class designer CASPER (from Saneei ART Studio), known for his work on luxury brand projects such as FENDI's "F IS FOR FENDI."
