Status as a Sacred Tree: The Koyasan boxwood has grown in ascetic practice sites since ancient times and is commonly used as an offering before Buddha statues in temples, carrying profound religious and cultural significance.
Legend: It is said that Kukai once used this wood as an offering to the Buddha, and thus it is regarded as a symbol of protection and purification.
