Kiyomizu-yaki is a traditional Kyoto-style ceramic ware produced in the Gojozaka district near Kiyomizu-dera Temple in Kyoto; its history dates back to the Momoyama period, and its early production phase was known as Ko-Kiyomizu (Old Kiyomizu).
Unlike mass-market products from other ceramic-producing regions, Kyoto ware has exuded an aristocratic aura from its very inception, with its primary value lying in its design and aesthetic interpretation.
