佐渡 油布黃玉 SADO YUFUOGYOKU

“Oilcloth Topaz” is a variety of Sado Akaiishi (Sado Red Jasper).
Since ancient times, this stone with its golden hue has been regarded as a treasure. It is a mineral formed when quartz combines with large amounts of iron oxide under high-temperature, high-pressure geological conditions.
Oilcloth Topaz is mined in the Ogura area of Sado City. Since this mining site is now subject to protective restrictions, the supply on the market has drastically decreased, making it quite rare.

Product Description
  • Sado Akaiishi (さどあかいし): This is a very famous ornamental stone in Japan, essentially a type of jasper.

This “Oilcloth Topaz” is an extremely rare, top-grade variety that features interwoven golden yellow, yellowish-brown, and red patterns due to its high iron oxide content.

  • Origin Protection: Sado Island in Niigata Prefecture was once famous for its gold mines (Sado Gold Mine), and the collection of local gemstones is now strictly regulated to protect the environment.

Since this raw stone cannot be easily mined, most of the existing material consists of historical collections, making it highly valuable to collectors on the market.
