Usaburo Mokujishi was founded in 1955 as a workshop specializing in Mokujishi figurines in Gunma Prefecture, Japan. Mokujishi figurines are crafted from raw wood dried by the north wind; the wood is carved into a spherical shape, then sanded, painted, and assembled. The creation of a single Mokujishi figurine requires dozens of steps and relies on the skilled craftsmanship of the artisans.
