赤ボサ石Akabosa Stone

“Aka-Bosa Stone” is a type of andesite quarried in Manazuru Town, Kanagawa Prefecture.
It is a relatively soft stone that is resistant to weathering, and it possesses both wear resistance and fire resistance. Its surface color—a reddish-brown hue—is the result of the oxidation of the bluish-gray “Komatsu Stone” contained within it, caused by the iron content.
It is said that this reddish hue undergoes various color shifts depending on the wearer or the environment, greatly enhancing the stone’s unique charm. It has a long history in Japan and was once prized as an important stone by the Imperial Family, Tokugawa Ieyasu, and Minamoto no Yoritomo, among others.

Approximately 400,000 years ago, Mount Hakone erupted, and the lava that flowed into the sea was rapidly cooled by seawater, forming this stone.
Therefore, processing this stone without compromising its defining characteristic—a “grayish hue with green undertones”—requires not only years of experience but also exceptional technical skill. Furthermore, because it is more viscous than other stones, it is considered extremely difficult to work with.

Meaning of the Stone: Prosperity in business; bountiful harvests in agriculture and fishing

Variations in color, patterns, slight differences in size, natural indentations, or minor deformities are all normal phenomena and do not constitute defects. Perfectionists should consider this carefully before purchasing.
• Due to differences in display settings across various smartphone and computer brands, the product color may differ slightly from the actual item; this is normal. We photograph all products as they appear in real life and make every effort to present colors that are as close to the actual product as possible.
