☁️Izumo Stone: Brings Good Fortune and Fosters Relationships

The raw stones are sourced from “Izumo,” a land inextricably linked to Japan’s creation myth and mythology—a sacred site presided over by the deity Ōkuninushi-no-Mikoto.
According to the *Kojiki*, the ancient Izumo Grand Shrine was vast and soared high into the clouds; modern archaeological and geological surveys suggest its main hall once reached an astonishing height of 48 meters.
This remains one of the great mysteries of ancient Japanese history. Furthermore, because even the method of tying the shimenawa (sacred straw ropes) is the opposite of that used elsewhere in Japan, legends have persisted that Izumo once harbored a unique political entity independent of the Yamato imperial authority.

This type of stone has been cherished since ancient times and was used to construct the stone walls of Matsue Castle during the Edo period. Furthermore, fossils of ancient creatures are occasionally found within this stone; for example, in Shōwa 55 (1980), the site became a hot topic after the discovery of a fossilized left mandible of a “Paleoparadoxia” (an ancient hippopotamus).
