Heart Sutra Carved Bracelet

The *Heart Sutra* is a summary of the spiritual teachings on the practice of Prajñā (Wisdom) expounded by Bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara. Although it consists of only 260 characters—making it the shortest sutra in the Buddhist canon—it is the core and essence of the *Prajñāpāramitā Sūtras*. Crafted by a long-established shop in Kyoto, Japan, this carved Heart Sutra is meticulously handcrafted, with the text engraved onto sandalwood beads to form a prayer bead bracelet. Combined with the subtle fragrance of sandalwood, wearing it instantly brings a sense of inner peace.

The carved Heart Sutra bracelets are available in the following woods: Kiso cypress, Yakusugi cedar, cypress, sandalwood, plain-finished ebony, and plain-finished rosewood.

Product Description

In the practice system of the Eastern Esoteric Shingon School, while the mantras of the various deities serve as the core teachings, the *Heart Sutra of the Perfection of Wisdom* is regarded as the fundamental text of wisdom for all Esoteric Buddhist practices. Prajñā is the mother of all Buddhas; the *Heart Sutra* encapsulates the essence of the six hundred volumes of the *Prajñāpāramitā* sutras, pointing directly to the true nature of all phenomena, and is revered by both Exoteric and Esoteric traditions as the ultimate teaching.

Esoteric Buddhism venerates Mahavairocana as the Dharma-body Buddha, and the nature of the Dharma-realm realized by Mahavairocana is the perfect manifestation of Prajñā wisdom. Therefore, in the Shingon School, the recitation of the mantras of the various deities and the visualization of mandalas must be grounded in the emptiness of Prajñā; without Prajñā, the practice of the mantras cannot be accomplished. The statement in the Heart Sutra, “Form is emptiness, and emptiness is form,” serves as the fundamental basis for the Esoteric Buddhist doctrine of “attaining Buddhahood in this very body.”
