Koyasan Zelkova

Zelkova trees are cultivated throughout Japan, with the exception of Hokkaido, and are a familiar species in the country. The wood is hard and durable, with a beautiful grain that develops a lovely luster when polished. The “Divine Seal” at Mount Koya is highly prized and has been revered since ancient times; the trees planted there are also believed to possess spiritual power.
