紅十勝石(VERMILION OBSIDIAN)

This is a type of obsidian formed approximately 1.5 million years ago as a result of intense volcanic activity at the Daxueshan Mountains.
Since ancient times, it has been crafted into tools such as “arrowheads” and “small knives,” and has always been closely intertwined with human life.

Although the outer surface may appear slightly whitish due to wear over the long years, it is essentially pure black glass, which is sometimes immediately apparent from its appearance. Among these obsidian pieces, those with a reddish tint are locally known as “Red Tokachi Stone” and have become extremely rare and valuable today.
